my version of a 4" intake

since i dont actually own a '2, i dont get to create threads here very often, so i figured i'd start one about the 4" intake i made for my cousins car.

the car is a 91 n/a, that we're in the process of swapping a 3rd gen 3sgte into.
he's owned the car ~4-5 years, and never really did any mods to it, other than some poly bushings all around, tein springs, new struts, and an intake.
this past spring, a good buddy of mine hooked me up with a great deal on a st-205 clip for my 94 celica, and my cousin decided to buy a 3rd gen clip for his car after seeing mine.

since i had some 4" pipe around the garage, we decided to fab him up a monster intake.
ordered a 4" to 3" transition from burns stainless, and got to work, this is the result.

the transition from burns.

Also, what is he using for the idle up feed? Is he just running a small filter under the throttle body or something?

the material for it was a little under 75$, + a coupler and filter...prolly ~125$$..although i do have some pipe left over, but not enough to make another like this one. if the water lines wernt in the way, and i could just 45* it, it could be alot cheaper.
he has a short (like 2-3") hose off the IAC valve with a small filter on it, you can see it poking out in the last pic if you look close :thumbup

when his 18yr old, honduh driving son saw it, he exclaimed "holy @#$% dad, that thing looks like a whale penis!"
LMAO!!!!
The "Honduh"kid was probally reffering to an intake system that looks similar to yours that been around for awhile for different hondas thats been nicknamed "whale penis"lol..anyways not bad for yout first intake. :thumbup

siliconeintakes.com has the best prices on couplers. use discount code link987 or 10% off.

i just got a 3076r and ordered 4 inch aluminum polished pipe for 20 bucks off ebay...bought a straight 4 in coupler and a 45* coupler. you can run straigh out of the turbo and then 45 it down to the side vent. no need to come up over the hoses...go through them! opens up alot of room...its where i'm installing my a2w...

silicone intakes is who i use as well, but they dont make a 4 to 2.75" coupler.
i didnt want to go thru the lines, that looks like poo IMO and creates a spot for them to wear thru and burst over time.
