Engine suddenly running on two cylinders.

Greetings, everyone!

Yesterday i was driving down the highway at about 80 MPH and suddenly i noticed that when i pressed down the gas pedal, the vehicle wouldn't respond and go faster. I immediately took the next exit and popped up the engine bay lid to see what was going on. My first thought was that the car felt like it was running on less than 4 cylinders, so with the engine running, i pulled one spark plug wire at a time to see which cylinders weren't firing. It turns out that the two cylinders closest to the timing belt are firing and the other two aren't.

I hadn't changed the spark plugs in quite some time, so that's the first thing i did, but that didn't change anything.

Wires look good. All four of them are sending a spark to each cylinder, so i'm trying to figure out what the next step will be.

Any ideas? I will be messing with the car tomorrow evening, but i'd like to hear if anyone on here has ever experienced anything like that.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. In all my years of driving MR2s, I've never experienced anything like this. =(

Here's a list of things i will be checking, but please let me know if i may have missed something:

Compression on all four cylinders
Spark plugs
Spark plug wires
Distribuitor
Distribuitor rotor
Distribuitor cap
Coil
Igniter
Fuel injectors

Anything else? I'm thinking it's probably a mechanical issue internally with the engine. Given that i have spark to all four cylinders, it sounds like too much of a coincidence for two adjacent cylinders to have bad fuel delivery or faulty injectors all of a sudden. And i'm most definitely not looking forward to opening up the engine. =(
