I checked the coolant temp sensor and it was in spec, but i only checked one 98black says there are two where is the second. I checked for codes before and had like a 52 or something which was map related i checked the map and it was working fine so i dont know. Ill check the codes agian tonight when i get home and see what i get.

The sensor for your gauge should be a small rectange plug thats blue I believe, and just fits over a single pin/connector. The EFI temp sensor is green, larger, and is a square shape, should have two pins. They're both on the water outlet neck, that your filler neck goes down to.

is your idle screw turned too far in?? so when you start it the iscv openes everything up but when it starts to drop the idle falls too low and the car stalls. Most of us with 5sfe's with a high idle have the screw cranked in all the way. I would think if i replaced my iscv and didn't unscrew the idle screw it would stall after it warmed up.

Bump, need some more suggestions. I put new gas in it and injector cleaner in it and still nothing. Not exactly sure what else it could be i guess ill start checking and replacing all my vacuum lines 1 at a time.

my rev2 3sge has an idle screw.....

I'm not sure about sensors, but a lot of the gaskets etc will be the same as the USDM 3sgte motor. I wish I could tell you more, but right now we're still struggling getting my motor starting

No worries man im just trying to get this thing running right. Its a blast to drive and i dont want to sell it but i need a reliable car and i cant stand having to re start it all the time well driving.

Chris

nope......its been quite frustrating. It seems as though the engine is getting too much fuel. I'm going to be replacing the engine harness, MAP sensor, and injectors soon. Hopefully one of those things fixes it.

Yea same with mine exact same thing. It just chokes itself out. Like i said it only happens when the car is warm so it has to be something that relies on coolent temp which is the coolent temp sensors the ISC valve and i dont know what else to look at. I may try and find a MAP sensor for it but i dont know where to go abouts finding one.Let me know and il let you know if i figure anything out.

Chris

Chris,

Its quite possible that in the next week I'll have an extra MAP sensor. Mine will actually start easier right after being shut off from being run for a while, oposite of yours it seems.

I'm not really sure what to tell you in regards to yours. I'll let you know what I find out about mine, hopefully it will be something.....heh, I'm so tired of it not working right

The car always starts fine it seems to me, it turns over like it always has its just well its idling you can hear it sputtering a little bit and then once it warms up all the way the car jumps revs a little then just dies out. Yea im tired of it to i love the car and ive been trying to sell it cause i really dont have that much time to look into it with school and work if i could get it running i may keep it or i could sell it for more and actually get rid of it. Well ill probably work on it tomorrow afternoon for a bit and see if i get anything. Ill let you know right away if i fix anything or find the problem.

Im sure i dont have the screw that was the first thing i checked for. I was thinking about putting the old one on and seeing what happens, but the thing is unplugged the car will run but then once you turn the car off it wont turn back on because the sensor is unplugged. Tomorow afternoon ill put the old on back on drive it around a little bit more and see what happens. I really am out of ideas to check i mean the only thing that i have left that i cant think of is the main engine harness i have been checking wiring to the ecu and it looks good. But i am not a electrician by any means and i dont know what all is spliced to make the engine run right on the old body harness to see what may be grounding off somewhere. I read somewhere that someone was having a problem kinda like this and the wires that were running to the MAP sensor were grounding out or something and making it do this.

Its cool man ive had this problem so long that i dont even expect it to run right no matter what i find or fix. Its just frustrating it was running freaking great one day and then the next it was not idleing i dont think it could be something that major for it to work one day then the next a vaccum leak maybe but cant find any. Ill do the same for you.
