very odd. any idea what year Rav4?

Also you're putting it in an MKIII so you still have to make a custom piece anyways. it doesn't change what you have to do. that pedal is the same electricaly.
Yeah, I already made the piece and it's in the car. Just thought I would let ya know.

It's from an 06 Rav4.

OK. the one i have is from an '07 i believe. not that junkyards are perfectly organized.

can you post a pic of the piece you made so i can get an idea of the MKIII's front firewall construction? if possible an installed and a loose picture

installed will be a tough shot, it's way in there, but I'll try.

Loose, no problem.

The angle is way different than the mk2.

PS - I hate to clutter your thread, but I have a quick question.

What did you do as far as attaching the fuel feed? Did you cut off the quick connector?

Also, have you tried running a belt w/out AC? It looks like it will work, but I Haven't tried yet.

this isn't clutter, it's directly related to the topic at hand.

for the fuel feed, I carefully removed the hard line from the quick connect and i was left with a quick connect end that i could put a 3/8" line over and lock on with a fuel injection hose clamp (the ones that don't cut the rubber line). it makes it easy to install/remove the line because the quick connect is still there.

the belt would definitely route just fine without the A/C. what i haven't checked is if there is a 7-rib belt of the correct length to make it work. but honestly by the time you've removed the A/C and Power Steering pump, there's absolutely no reason to have a 7 rib belt anyways. 6-rib belts are much easier to find in any length.

Hmmm but where do you get the other side that the quick connect clicks on to.

Sorry, maybe I am not visualizing it properly.

start with this:

remove the outer clip:

unclip it and cut the line off:

and then finish it off like this:

how's that for a visual aid?

LOL! Perfect.

For some reason, I thought the line did not have a connector right at the rail, just on the end of the short line, like the 1zz has.

you have to pull the upper intake off to get to it. but i had one in here with that removed already.

ODB2 question.

Let me know how you have it wired up.

Here's mine (note Spyder already has OBD2 but a different protocol)...

These are the ones I have figured out:
CANH on 2GR ECU to CANH on OBD2
CANL on 2GR ECU to CANL on OBD2
Existing ground to Chassis Ground on ODB2 (no mod required)
Existing power source to BATT on OBD2 (no mod required)
TACH on 1zz ECU to TAC on OBD2 (no mod required)
TC on 2GR ECU to TC (ties in where 1zz ecu used to)

My question is regarding these two:
SG (signal ground) on the OBD connector
SIL on the OBD2 connector

How did you wire these two?

The Avalon engine control diagram shows SG wired to some shielded loop, not sure what's going on there.

I can't find anything on SIL in any of the wiring diagrams, however in the Camry Diagnostic System Tech Document it says that SIL to SG is "+ Bus line"
see here: http://mr2.phpwerx.net/manuals/2007...-fe/2GR-FE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM_ SFI SYSTEM_ DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM (2007 Camry).pdf

The spyder has an ECU terminal for SIL...

Thanks!

SIL and Ts should be from the VSC or ABS ECU

SG should be from any of the ECU and sensor ground points... mainly used during O2 or A/F diagnosis.
Thanks for the info!

Cool.. I looked here http://dutch.northwestmr2.com/Toyot...mr2 spyder/Repair Information/Wiring Diagrams/09 - System Circuits/25 - ABS.pdf

SIL and TS should be existing circuits then (from the ABS ECU).

This brings up a question about TC:
What is it for?
Should it come from the TC on the 2GR ECU, or the TC on the ABS ECU??
I am assuming it should come from the 2GR ECU.

both...

they connect to the same junction connector somewhere along the line.
Ah.. so I can use the existing portion of the circuit at the connector end, so long as I hook the ECUs TC terminal up to the junction connector back at the firewall.

Things keep getting easier.

I wish I had $7200..

It's inspirational though. Everyone has turbos.

One day... :)
I'd like to point out that it doesn't have to be that expensive. That's just if you buy everything pre-made and bolt it in. I'm posting this information for everyone regardless of if they buy my parts. I want to help everyone get a 2GR-FE.

Thats the high end of his range =p, it could be done for alot less if you start from with a turbo and already have the tranny/axles/hubs/fuel pump.
