Has anyone found a way to increase the tension in the wiper arm spring or found any better wiper arms that fit the mk2 mr2 from other cars?

I just bought a set of the aero blade style wipers, on the drivers side the part right below where the arm fits to the blade doesnt touch the screen , when the arm goes up the screen to wipe its great, coming down again it misses some.

My wiper arms are fairly new looking as well.

Cheers

Dunno if you can get these in the states, but up here you can get these "Sur-Wipe" add-on tensioner springs at almost any place that sells autoparts, including WalMart, etc - they clip on over the wiper hinge and made a HUGE difference on two different daily drivers I've used them on (my MR2 never sees the rain so no need for them on it for me!)

Complete stock Toyota blade assemblies are the only way to go.

1. The passenger side blade assembly is crescent shaped so it makes full contact with the glass even all the way down.
2. The driver's side blade assembly incorporates an aerofoil to keep the blade down on the glass so that it does not shudder when going down.

The price is very attractive too, at ~13 bucks for the driver's side and ~7 for the passenger's side.

The second link is exactly them. They are sold under the name "Sur-Wipe" here in Canada, and they come in three or four slightly different versions to fit various lengths of OEM wiper arms. WalMart has 'em, UAP/NAPA, CanadianTire, etc etc. If I remember right they are about $10 a pair. They've worked great for me on every car I've tried them on, way better than the "aero blades" that are supposed to use airflow/downforce at speed to press down harder on the glass.

I'm using those sur-wipe helper springs. They help keep the blades down.

The other easy way to get more force is to just bend the wiper arm down an inch. Then you don't need the extra springs...

ive tried bending them but doesnt seem to help, the arm just raises more and doesnt put the extra pressure down. Will have to let people in the uk know about these sur-wipe things once ive given them a test as new wiper arms are ?70 from toyota here, $140 US :(
Now I'm confused. Are you talking about the actual arm or the wiper assembly that holds the blade itself?

The sure-wipe things, i didnt really think about it before but our wiper arms are the other way around which means the sure-wipe spring would be on the cowel side not the window. Anyones that fitted these can you see any problem with them been the other way around in terms of clearance?

Also is the corolla wiper arm apart form the hook any different/better than the mr2 one?
