What is the standard RPM limit of the 1MZ?

If I remember correctly, the recommended redline is 6,000 RPM.
The tachometer from the turbo shows a higher RPM redline, but I think the tachometer from the NA shows a more appropriate redline for the 1MZ.

you'll know when to shift way before redline because it makes no power up top:) one of these days I'll hook up my tach but I just go by sound and feel
What makes you assume my engine is standard and makes no power up top??
I would like to base my RPM limit on what I think the engine will handle internally, because it does perform up high!

As I posted in the other thread, I've seen a max logged RPM of 7200 on my SMT6 (1995 1MZ ECU). I'm sure theres some margin of error in there, but that was me taking the motor to cut at a dragstrip... not misshifting or anything like that.

7k seems like a reasonable cut guesstimate. Most cars I've owned cut 500-750 over indicated redline.

Agree... it looks like mine cuts at 6250 perhaps 6300...the vvti pulls strongly to the end and then a soft fuel cut, nothing like the slammin-scare the life out of you fuel cut that the 3sgte give you at 7200.

My VVTi series 1MZ had a 6250 cut. I overclocked it to 7200 for a while with zero issues, but backed it down to 6800 to match the MkIII Speedo. At 7200, it was still pulling quite well and I suspect could be strengthened and stiffened to go quite a bit higher than that if one was so inclined.

"overclocked"... love it! hehehe
Ive decided to leave it at 7000. It seems happy there.
