Rare Manufacturer Options

I'm looking to see if anyone knows of any rare "Manufacturer" options that I don't know about.
I'm NOT talking about Dealer Options or TRD parts. I'm talking options you could only get if you ordered your car that way brand new.

I'm sure this will become a JDM parts thread as North America never really had many neat options. But post up with some pics if you can. I'm not going to post everything at once as I'm curious to see how many really know their SW20s. I'd like to see some European only option type stuff. (not interested in different front turn signals etc...) Again, Optional Factory equipment.

Ishii

To start here's a part that only came from the Factory as part of a package.

Ishii, do you have any other documentation on a "MOMO Edition" MR2? That knob doesn't match either of the two shifter knob options that came on the MR2. It kinda just looks like the older "Anatomic" line MOMO carried.

As far as strictly factory equipment options (not dealer installed or bought parts) from Europe, the only three things that pop to my mind that are different from things available to the US or Japan are...

1. Center vent flap control wheel.
2. Economy lights within the tach. on 3sge equipped cars.
3. The 98-99 red stitched steering wheel was the older four point style, rather than the newer three point style the Japanese model got.

I've never seen this before but I wouldn't mind sporting it. Do you know if you can still get this knob?

Keith usually has a good supply of random Japanese parts. But looking at that, I'm not sure that's actually the correct cupholder for the MR2. The one for the MR2 looks identical to that when it's closed but actually has a bit of an "arc" to it's outward travel so that when opened and extended it would sit straight in a RHD car. That one comes out straight and would then be pointing more toward the driver. Could just be from another Toyota with a more flat dash.

Not sure if the US versions had most of my list as I rarely see in any of your pics but some of my little extras and others I've seen in NZ include;

> Mud flaps (actually look good).
> Lower door sill cover
> Fog (spot) lights that turn with the sterring wheel
> MR2 decals (on targa and side panels)
> Illuninated MR2 emblem in rear trunk panel.
> Recardo seats

Mudflaps were a dealer option here.

Remember though, the OP asked for things that were factory options...not dealer options. So from that list, those would include the steering guided foglights and Recaro seats. I'm not certain about whether the illuminated rear emblem was factory or dealer installed, but I'd wager it was dealer added option at the time.

I have a JDM 1992 GT with Traction Control, Backup Sensor, Cruise Control and all other options that Toyota was offering.
Yes Traction Control is slightly on the Rare side.

Nardi steering wheel. Very very very rare. But it exsist. Cup holders!!! Rear window side shades. Folding mirrors. Trunk totes/mats.
Nardi Steering Wheel??? That I have to see. Somehow I think this is not correct.
Rear Window Shades was the Dealer.
Folding Mirrors was on about every other GT model.
Trunk Mats was the Dealer also (however the molded hard plastic mat is also slightly rare)

Oh, and the Dandism stuff. I have the floormats. 98's I think came with H4 housings.
Seems like this Dandism stuff is a hit lately. Again all dealer.
And for those still wondering just what the hell being Dandy means here is the answer. Being Dandy in Japanese means you are a handsome guy, a smooth player etc.... thus when they tried to follow english and conjigate, it becomes Dandism. I have a set of floor mats that most have probably never seen:

Also, I'm not 100% sure that someone changed them out, but all my MR2s have always came with H4 housings.

That is the only Toyota/momo shift knob ever available in SW20 MR-2s
Yes I have documents to prove so, but I'm holding out

What is this? Do you have a picture?

With Airbag correct?

That picture doesn't seem to be a Toyota Part.
Toyota made many different combos of 1 din cup holder, coin holder etc...
Again Dealer installed.
Many many knock offs purchased from Autobachs people try to sell on ebay as OE equipment. But nothing compared to the Genuine Toyota's quality.

Not rare at all, almost 70% of all SW20 I see have this.

benckj said:

I know about this and have seen this, I actually don't have one.
I havn't really checked out where these came from yet.
If anyone has a BRAND NEW one I will pay top dollar.

Now we're getting somewhere! Anyone able to elaborate on this set up?

Was the "MR2" stitching on the seats a factory option or is it just my car?
I'll post a picture soon...
I'd like to see that.

Keep it comming! Few good things already. Any more Europe stuff?

on a side note...i have a 91 hardtop with power windows, no abs, no ps, and with an electrical antenna opposed to the usual pillar mounted ones you usually see on hardtops
That's really cool.
I used to have a 91 Turbo T-top With Leather, Power Windows and ABS but no PS, no A/C and no CC.

There are already threads on this very subject..
I know. I checked (searched). Show me one that shows something not mentioned already. I'm trying to find things I couldn't find out elsewhere. Furthermore I have things to share that I'm sure you've never seen. Remember we are talking Manufacturer Options not rare JDM parts.
If you think this thread is worthless than have it closed. Won't bother me too much, but it does seem there are other things out there in SW20 land not discussed yet.
