Hello, I recently bought a 1994 MR2 and the cluster used to work since i bought it but recently I was having some trouble with my oil light being always on and I have opened the cluster to see if there are any capacitors leaking. I haven’t found anything suspicious and I just put the cluster back together exactly how it was, but now the rev gauge doesn’t work.

Does anyone know what the issue can be, I have tightened all the screws up from the film also tried to recalibrate the rev needle and when the turn the ignition on i can see the little motor jump up and then down and it stays there.

Edit: forgot to mention that I used to have the alternator light on as well before because my alternator is not connected to the car yet and now that light is off to

Thank you!

As well as what Jim asked, have you removed the tacho face? There is a spring that you need to coil back up before reinstalling. Not too much, maybe a revolution and a half give or take. If you reset it too much the needle won't be able to move off the 0 stopper.

Update: After checking the cluster one more time I realised that the rev gauge and all the other lights apart from the parking brake light and door open. The fuel gauge doesnt work either but I think that might also be related to the measurer from the tank.

Have also checked the gauge fuse underneath the dashboard and that seems to be good.

Can it be the capacitors?
