might be color coded for a fixed spring pressure rate...correct me.

 

Can't remember where I read it but when I installed mine I place the painted side either down or up. I really don't remember what way but I did a bunch of searching and found that one way was right. Good Luck!

 

I have a set in my engine as well. It's an orientation indicator. Forgot which goes where now. Call HKS and ask them to make sure.

how did you install em. Pink side up or Pink side down.

these are gray in this pic... (and not 3sgte springs either) but you get the idea:
I'm going to guess that color side goes down.

you'll find that the coil of the spring is progressive (its slightly tighter at one end than the other). This will allow you to get the ones with the paint worn off around the correct way also.. if theres no other indication

The stock springs also had paint at the top, but in most of our motors, its already worn off

Thanks tristan. Wish this info were more widely available.
My stock springs still have the white paint on top, and I figured the HKS would go in the same way. Just wanted to double check.

Didn't come this far just to halfass a reassembly.
