I've read a lot of threads and the whole debate on whether or not rears improve or harm the sound, so I'm not trying rehash any of that.
My current config I have is 6" infinity components up front, and a Tang sub in the stock location. I took the rears out back when I dynomatted my car. I just have an older Awia head unit and no additional power amps. The sound is decent but it seems to lack "punch". I'm no sound tech but if I had to guess, I'd say it's weak in the upper-bass range.
I was wondering if it could help my situation to install woofers in the rear speaker locations. Not subs and not 2-ways, just woofers that will fill out the bass.
I realize there are a lot of better things I could do, including ditching the 5? sub in the back and putting in some boxes behind the seats. But I don't want loose that storage space (I use it regularly) and I'm on a budget (don't want to upgrade my stereo, install an amp, etc.) so I'm willing to accept "not the best". I'm just looking for an improvement and want to be somewhat certain that I won't actually make it sound worse!
Thanks
