My mk1 with "Extreme performance" summer tires spun in second gear idling last winter... Snow tires Are a must!

 

honestly, make something work so that you can get a set of snow tires, find a friend with a garage, maybe even give him/her $10/mo for storage. blizzaks are amazing.

True, another reason a 2nd car is the best mod you can buy for your MR2.

 

Twenty years ago, faced with the same problem, I parted with $2k and got a rusty Tercel for the winter. I still have the same MR2 today, and I wish that I had made the move sooner.

 

Throw a 70lb bag of playground sand in the frunk to help keep the front tires from sliding, and find a way to get and keep dedicated snow tires. I promise you, you will not regret the decision. Otherwise, just take it easy and go slow. Change lanes slowly, do everything slower. But really, get snow tires. Your Spyder will almost not be any fun anymore (as far as power oversteer is concerned anyways) because most dedicated snow tires (but especially Bridgestone Blizzaks) grip so well. Store your summer tires under your bed. If you sleep on a mattress on the floor, place the mattress on the tires. Whatever it takes. Make the investment. If you don't abuse them, they should be good for a few winters, and will get you more time between summer tire replacement.

Lol, I have summer tires too. Does this stuff really work?? I hope it does
not loose traction all of sudden because it rubs off.
I'd use it for some snowy days to get to work if it's really any good?

 

Ive driven my MK1.5 in the snow, which has basically double the power of a stock MK1. I dont have much trouble at all, I find as long as you keep the RPM's Low and it in a higher gear you can keep slipping to a minimum.
