Long story short, I have a 5S block that has no provision for the 3S knock sensor. I'm temporarily running the stock ECU, and it insists on seeing something from the knock sensor.
I've tried disconnecting the sensor, installing it in different places on the engine and leaving it hanging in the engine compartment -- none seem to work (appears like it's detecting an open circuit, too much noise, and too little signal, respectively).
Does anyone know what the raw output of a normally-functioning knock sensor is supposed to look like?
I have a nice selection of wideband knock sensors and a programmable digital filter ready to take it's place, but I have no clue what the stock ECU expects to see..... the BGB tells me appropriate ranges for just about ever sensor except the KS.
