Hi everyone!
I bought a Toyota MR2 of 2000 from UK. I'm from Spain and i'm the process to re-register this car. I have a problem with the headlights lamps. The thing is, I need to replace these with EU-version headlights, since the ones from the UK in Spain blind people, and that's why they won't pass the MOT (Technical Vehicle Inspection). So, if anyone could give me any advice on how to get these European-version headlights, I'd be very grateful.

I am not sure how things work in your part of the world, but here in the US you can go into an auto parts store and look up replacement bulbs by year, make, and model of the car. I am guessing that you could do the same and end up with the correct bulbs. That said, the UK was part of the EU in 2000, so I would think the bulbs would be the same.

I think what OP is saying is that the cars drive on the opposite side of the road in Spain compared to the UK, so the headlights need to be changed to shine the appropriate lighting pattern left to right.

I am not sure if the housings have any differences between countries or if they just come aimed differently from the factory in this car, or if the inspection process in Spain is looking for certain markings on the headlights, so I am not sure how to help.

Yes, the bulbs are generic H4 I believe, so to have a different beam pattern (RHD vs. LHD), then it has to be due to the shape of the housing or the bulb shield that's in the housing. Or maybe both.

epc-data.com is down right now, or you could look there to see where the part # differences show up.

[edit]
Amayama.com has part numbers.
RHD, Left Hand headlight assy is 81170-17160
LHD, Left Hand headlight assy is 81170-17170

So the housings themselves are different. I didn't see a bulb shield listed separately from the housing.

With the combined lamps, the low beams are aimed low and to the side, and of course which side depends on the driving convention. With the projectors, there is a hood that makes a sharp horizontal cutoff, and that may be shaded to the side also, although it does not seem obvious.

This days i wanted a solution for this. In amazon i founded a stickers that modify the light beam. I need this mod because in Spain when you re-register a car, you have to pass the vehicle technical inspection (ITV), so I need to turn on the light beam to drive through Spain. Then, once the ITV has passed, I can pay the re-registration and they will give me the license plates from my country.

Here I paste the link of stickers if anyone needs:
