It depends on the year, but basically the GT and the GT-S were quite similar.

ABS was standard on a GT and a option on a GT-S

Traction control was optional on a GT but only available as a set with ABS on a GT-S

The windshield on a GT was tinted, the GT-S was not

The GT came standard with Power folding mirrors, Not avail. on Gt-S

The GT seats were combo leather/fabric seats, the GT-S was only fabric
The head rests on a GT were leather, the GT-S were fabric

The GT came with a 8 speaker Super live sound system standard and the GT-S only a standard 6 speaker system, but both had the option to upgrade to a DSP 8 speaker super live sound system.

The GT came with a FM diversity antenna standard and the GT-S could only get it with a 8 Super live sound system option

I've been wondering this same thing myself I purchased my gt last year and I guess I was lucky enough to get all those options ishii just described.

I have a 3rd Gen. 3gte with no ABS, So are you saying that it deosn't have traction control(LSD). I read that unless it didn't come with ABS option it doesn't have an LSD?

A 3S-GTE doesn't have brakes but it could have Traction control. Traction control and a LSD are completley different things. Finally, ABS is in no relation to a LSD.
All GT and GT-S models from GenII on came with a LSD.

GT is a hardtop the GTS a t-top.
GT has ABS, GTS doesn't.
GTS has LSD, GT doesn't.
GT has elec folding mirrors, GTS doesn't.

One thing to point out, is that the traction control was only paired with the 4 channel ABS system, or at least that's my understanding. I still don't understand why they didn't offer the 4 channel ABS here in the states.

Interesting. I ask because the traction control on my parent's 1998 Camry is crap. It's either on or off and when it turns off the additional power can be enough to trigger it again.

 

My Gt-s has all the features then except for the folding mirrors, not sure if it has traction control should there be a switch for it?

there should be a push button where the foglight switch goes etc
also there will be a little square in the bottom left of the speedometer that says trc that will light up when it engages

 

GT models came with most things as standard where as GTS models had to be spec'd up with options that where standard on the GT model, so you could have a GTS with exactly the same level of options as a GT. There were also options that were not not standard on either model (Traction control/ cruise control/sat Nav + many more) but could be added to the car when it was ordered.

 

on a side note i might add the gts was more perfomance oriented cause it was slightly lighter than the gt model and had more rigidity due to it being a hard top
but then again the weight difference could be due to it having less interior goodies

before 93 had no lsd

 

Is it possible to have a 91 GT hardtop? as that is what i think i have. (its a JDM - RHD )

True only for North American models.

Any JDM GenII or higher had LSD. Check:

Also on a side note North American cars are not and should not be called by Generation. North American models went by model year not by Generation.
