Have a strange problem I've been chasing for the last couple of months. My 98GT is idling at approx 500rpm and I'd like to bump it back up where it use to be (800) without adjusting throttle cable.
When the car is cold the cold start injector seems to over supply and engine dies. After its warm it will idle most of the time but its hit & miss and sometimes will die.
Thought it must be a ISC problem but I checked it out over the weekend and its functioing in the open position. When I disconnect electrical plug it does not change RPM.
Using the AC it will idle up to about 800 so that is working OK. Cleaned out the TPS connector and checked ignition cap, rotor, cables and plugs (all new).
Recently, installed an aftermarket FPR and running at 35psi at idle. Had problem before this so not related. Checked my timing and bumbed up a couple of degrees with TE1 and E1 jumper to see if it would help but no avail.
Everything else is running well with no real issues apart from running very rich at WOT which seems to be a common poblem with gen3's which is why I installed the FPR. Did a induction check a few weeks ago and possibly I fixed a small leak on one of the clamps which allowed more air. Being a MAP would not think this would change it.
Looking at popping the top on ECU next to look and possibly replace capacitors. Any other ideas?
Pic below of car engine bay as this always helps answer those questions which I missed. Plus it usually gets more response (at least I react better to those threads) with a bit of eye candy.
