2GR-FE supercharger belt routing kit build thread

Well, i took the car out for it's first ride with the supercharger hooked up tonight to test that the belt routing would work well. the good news is i had no issues in 10 miles of driving.

I want to run a few tanks of gas through here get several hundred miles before the kit goes up for sale. I also want to revise the upper idler mount and make my own pulleys since the ones that are on there right now cannot be purchased.

so with that said, the initial part is done, everything appears to be happy. if it stays that way i imagine the belt routing stuff will be for sale in 4-6 weeks or so.
Any chance you are ready to let us know what supercharger to be looking for?

Initially this is just a belt kit so you'll have to use the Lotus/TRD supercharger. a 2nd kit will come out with a lower intake manifold to use a cheaper supercharger. but that won't be ready right away.

but i won't divulge which application i'm pulling the supercharger for because people buy ahead and then get angry at me if i change my design.
I understand.

Of course you must understand the level of excitement your work creates. I'm glad you take on projects like this.

It's probably a good time to mention that the stock TRD supercharger does not even let the MKII engine lid close. i suspect you'd have even less luck with the MKI. For the test mule car i'm just going to run one of Paul Woods' engine lids for the clearance, you guys will see it in a few days.

yeah, this project has been through several incarnations but all the bits are finally here to make it all possible. I'll need some help with a group buy on the belt stuff to help it get to production and i'm concerned there may not be that many people interested in the belt routing only part of this because of TRD/Lotus supercharger availability but i guess we will find out here shortly.
That brings a good question. Will the belt kit you're working on definitely work with the other supercharger option you plan to develop?

Thanks for your purchase!

It's way too early to call that. but i hope to be about 6 months out on that project. (note if this changes your mind about the pre-buy just give me a heads up and i'll refund it)
In that case, do you have any recommendations for where to look for used TRD/Lotus superchargers? I feel a bit over my head in shopping for parts that are rare/unavailable in the US.

I think it's going to depend on TVS 1320 availability, there's none on ebay UK at the moment and nothing in the UK forums at the moment.

Agree with this. I have spent the last few days looking for the Lotus/TRD unit and am having no luck.

That being said, I'm still considering buying the upper pulley setup... Just in case I find a unicorn, but in my search, I've found that neither Eaton nor Harrop will sell the needed TVS unit, and the generic TVS 1320 won't work. You can't buy a TRD unit from Toyota without a TRD Aurion VIN (if you can buy one at all.) The Lotus unit seems a tiny bit easier to get new, but at crazy expense.

All that being said, I'm still 100% behind the work Marc is doing. I'll keep searching for the right supercharger, and if I haven't found one by the time plan B is put into production, I'll go that way. I've got more time than money anyway.

That sounds like good news to me. Seems like avoiding intake manifold design and fabrication will make this much easier for you and more cost effective for the budget conscious (like me.)

I eagerly await further development. Let me know if I can help in some way.

Wow guys, I'm surprised. four of you guys have stepped forward on the lower pulley mount pre-buy so far. there's one more day left if you're interested but haven't gotten in on it yet.

This really helps me feel better about the demand before pulling the trigger on the first production run.

Thanks everyone!
I'm sure I speak for several here when I say that we appreciate the work you put in. Whenever I'm able, I will support your work just to see what you do next.

I'd definitely be interested in buying a bit at a time. I think it would help me afford the kit, while at the same time keep a bit of cash going your way to support development.

Got the lower pulley kit in yesterday. As expected, it is a piece of art. Thanks for all the work you put in.
