What the heck are these?

These small seals (about 1/2 inch in diameter) came in the same package as the cam seals with my engine gasket kit from Toyota. What the heck are they and where do they go? I assume they are some kind of oil seal but I didn't run across them yet in my teardown (or my buildup for that matter :) ) TIA

They look like injector seal, i could be mistaken.
^No, I don't think they're injector seals, otherwise there'd by 4 of them, right? I posted a better pic that shows a little better detail of what they look like.
Defenetly not injector seals, those are like rubber O rings. What you have above is a shaft seal, look too small to be cam seals. I have no idea what they would be for, I just rebuilt my engine and never seen a seal smaller then the cam seals on the engine.
I thought about that after i posted, I have no clue what they are.
^Ok, thanks for the input, but definitely not the cam seals----Like I said, they came in the same separate package as the cam seals. Any other guesses? Also, they are seals, not o'rings.
Can't really see in the picture but if there is 8 Black and 8 Brown they are your valve seals. They attach on the top of the the guide.
^ No, not guide seals---those come in their own separate packages (brown and black, installed them already). Maybe they're cam seals for 1:20 model car :)?
are they the gaskets in for the spark plug holes where the valve cover mates with the head?

Edit: Oh, i just saw the " 1/2" in diameter ", spark plug seals are prolly like 1"-1.5" diameter.
This is a 3sgte? OEM toyota kit? I am kind of curious now. I have the EPC if you had part numbers for them I could look it up.
they sorta look like water and oil pump front seals.

It's a factory gasket kit (dealer) supposedly for 3sgte (Toyota part #04111-74240) but I'm beginning to think that I have the wrong gasket kit because also the gasket for the turbo oil pipe only had 3 holes instead of 4? (TC 4 and TC8 in BGB). That would have blocked the oil feed line?
Mine came with them too. I didnt use them when i did a complete rebuild. I assumed they were for the oil/water pump.

I put a new water pump on and didn't see a place for that seal. Maybe I'll take off the pulley on the old one and take a look.
Yea, I think they are for rebuilding the water or oil pump. I replaced both pumps with brand new, so i never opened up the old oil or water pump.
Ahh i think you guys are right, I was wondering why I didn't get those with my kit but then I rememberd I only got the gasket kit for the top end not the whole engine. The Oil pump seal does look like that, that pully unbolts. I replaced my pumps too. Have no idea how the water pump pully comes off.

-I agree with Mike here, when I replaced my timing belt, I also replaced the crank seal, oil pump shaft seal, cam seals, and others.
-I'd say one is for the oil pump shaft.
-I thought there was another similar shaft down there on the passenger side of the engine too, but I'm at work now and just can't recall what it was (?).
Glad I found this as I picked up my gasket set today. Also getting new oil and water pumps so this should save the panic.
HINT : Take a look at your TVIS spacer with the shaft mounted butterflies.

Andy, I'm looking at it, but not seeing a place for these two seals. Can you explain it further?
EDIT: took an even closer closer look and I think I see them. Should these be replaced? Exactly what do the do? (what are the symptoms if you don't?).
