Theres a cable going into the tranmission that connects to a gear inside. usually its the gear that goes bad...mines did....but never got around doin it...lol...what u can do to verify that the speedo is bad is remove the cable from the transmission and attach the end a hand drill/electric and portable off course. Hit the trigger and see if the speedo works, if it works, its that little gear in the tranny.....

Oh one other thing bro....the cable comes in 2 pieces.....thats the next thing to check

i have the same problem. i downshifted to 4th before exiting.. and the speedo just dropped. ..i think its the same thing?

maybe....but ya gotta isolate whether its the gear in the tranny or just a worn cable....
