Powertec RPA V8?

Anyone ever heard of this motor? It is a 2.6 litre V8 based on the Hayabusa 1.3 litre I4. It has dynoed [email protected],500 and 200ft/[email protected] The Torque curve is flat and pulls all the way to redline. It has the stock 11:1 compression ratio. It sounds like an F1 engine. I always thought an MR2 would go great with this engine. It measures a mere 21.5x20.1x17.3 and weighs 194lbs. Imagine the power boosted. The Hayabusa makes insane power on boost. I have seen one make 372RWHP on 21psi.

Some British engineers have been working on this for a couple of years. Eventually they want a 3.0liter and one that is smaller than 2.6, I think 2.0. The 3.0 is supposed to have close 450hp I think. That would be awesome to here that sound coming from a MK1. Then go find some Hondas or Mustangs.
Yeah Powertec is based in the UK. They told me they are working on a 2.0l, 2.5l, and now a 3.2l. If the cost wasn't insane, it would be completely worth it. I emailed them on pricing. I have a feeling they want a lot of cash because of the custom two piece crank case, crankshaft and head work.
The 2 heads are facing opposite directions b/c of the way the intake ports need to be in the middle. A 3.2 would be freaking wicked in say a MK1 or MK3. Think of the sound, intake and exhaust.

I thought the exact same thing and even went out to the garage at 2am a few months ago w/ measuring tape to see if it would be possible. It's very unlikely that someone will ever do this but you can always dream, in my case on a daily basis. :banghead:
The info I saw on this indicated a price of ~20000 pounds. Not really an affordable swap option. Although I'd love to see Lotus release it in the Exige, that would be awesome.

WOW. That's like 35K US! Insane! I wouldn't mind seeing a Elise with it in back either, but at that price...
how much torque does it put out? The problem with those high revving motorbike based v8s is the amount of torque tends to lend itself more to lighter kit cars etc around 750kg and less.

It puts out as much torque as a stock USDM 3SGTE. Not too shabby really.
I just got a price from powertec. ?17,750($31,270) for the 380BHP 2.6l and ?22,750($40,082) for the 320BHP 2.0l, 375BHP 2.5l or the the 430BHP. This does not include the EMS, drysump oil tank, exhaust manifolds or intake manifold. It turns out the engines were designed almost strictly for competition use and the warranty is for "30 hours with datalogging".

I also asked about the availability of a boost ready engine and he said not until the 3.0l and 3.2l have been developed.

I wonder how hard it would be to develope the cranck case yourself. Porbably just cost a lot of cash.
A stock Busa motor makes around 100lbs tq I think. The thing is these engines would rev so damn fast and would be so light.
I wanna see a picture of this engine...
whats the prices of these awesome engines? i know I cant afford... but still curious.
Forget turbo charging that engine. With such a high compression ratio, that car would detonate itself to death. You run into the same problem when you try to turbo charge the 9.5/1 5sfe.
NA is best they say, at least the V8 guys lol
