Hi

Had a simple oil filter change. MR2 (1988 supercharged automatic) smelled like something - oil - was burning on my way home with it.

Had a slight but noticeable smoke off the exhaust problem, for 2 days, before heading up a steep hill, whereas it started smoking more and more, until I made it up and over the last and steepest hill, and....vavooom...there was a ton of smoke...complete with the catalytic converter making crinkling sounds. Doused it with a garden hose and a fire extinguisher.

Does this sound like oil was spilled during the oil change and on the steep inclines, made its way to the exhaust?

Totally fouled the plugs, discoloured the inside of the trunk flooring and started to burn the trunk carpet. Discoloured the exterior trim below the trunk (yellow/orange). Smelled like hell!

Toyota is claiming they don't know what happened - can't figure it out. They did the oil change.

Any recommendations?

Cheers

Thanks, it seems the oil pan gasket is leaking, as well as the valve cover...

Previously known leaks were oil filter housing and oil coolant hose....but they were slow leaks...

Now, it needs an entire reseal.
