Years ago I saw this video of why you don't want to paint a helmet. They spray painted it and let it dry, took a small hammer and tapped it and it broke into a billion pieces. The chemicals in the paint weakened the fiberglass.

So how are helmets painted?

I know you can purchase cool stickers... but I want a custom simple scheme that include my brand name and sponsors stuff on it.

I am figuring some sort of water based paint.

any suggestions?

i did a really quick search and found that a few companies do this:

"We start with your new or used helmet, sand out any scratches or scuffs. Then we epoxy prime, spray urethane enamel color basecoats, then finish up with a urethane clear that gives it that liquid glass finish!!!!"
