I moved to NJ from Upstate NY last year (Dec '03).
I work in NYC and had NY state and City taxes taken out of my checks. I live in NJ, so do I have to pay NJ state taxes? If so do I get refunded for the NY state and City taxes I paid, or how does that work?

Can anyone recommend a CPA that has experience with this stuff?
TIA.

You file NYS and NYC taxes and deduct them from your NJ taxes.

Fed taxes are independent

I asked my dad and he said that you have to fill out three separate forms. I'm not sure of the numbers. One Federal, One NJ State, One NY State. Your going to be double taxed.

OK I'm an accountant............

Yes you fill out 3 forms, Federal, NYS and NJ. You do not get double taxed. You fill out the NYS first and whatever tax you pay to NYS shows up as a credit on your NJ.

Jim was right.
