Quick update, my new exhaust silencers arrived yesterday, these will be piped after the TVR silencer, hopefully all of this will keep the Db down without losing the wonderful v8 note.I just cable tied them into position for now, starting to look like a v8 mk1 now eh?

Ohh god!!!

Despite the bodywork this will still be a sleeper because nobody will believe you could put that much torque into that body. Good on you Paul, looking forward to seeing / hearing the finished product.

Oh a long way off yet i'm afraid, i will have the engine running very soon but the rest of the car needs a lot of work before it goes on the road. The good news is i have all of the problems and obstacles worked out, so there is no reason it won't be completed.Unfortunately running an Mr2 specialist garage takes up nearly all of my time so i only get the odd snatched hour per week on the car.

And why not run it on pure nitro-methane, with a pair of superchargers as well? If were going to flip the car on it's side from the torque, we might as well do it right.

What rear bumper is that? I really like the way it fills in behind the wheels.

Chris i have done a little more front firewall work, mainly structural framing and when i get a chance i am going to start panelling it in, i will grab more pics of that asap.

you should twin turbo that thing
maybe 2 GT35's should do the trick
Well i have lots of space for twin turbo's/intercoolers etc and it would be pretty easy to add these, the problem with adding too much power to a mk1 is the rear hub axle outer spline, they break on some 1.5's with over 300bhp, so i would need to do a mk2 turbo rear hub conversion to be able to stick crazy power adders like that on, this would let me use the ATS uprated outer CV joint cages which are good for 500bhp plus.Seriously though, i will be more than happy with this thing running in stock form.

Pics of the front end, lots of work to do here, i have to decide on what shape to make the flare blend into the bumper...

An early pic during first fitting...

An overall view of the car, i have a lot of bodywork to do! Note the extra left side engine bay vent.

....and is produced by Toyota.... and the type of car must be the same class of car. Toyota has not produced a sedan class car with a V8. closest thing is a 2grfe V6 from a Camary. so no, cant have a CA legal V8 in this *otherwise aside from the smog and gun laws* wonderful state

Wrong. You can swap in any motor as long as it is newer. You just have to preserve the smog devices and it can't be from a truck, so no triton V8. But the northstar is a ok. Look it up on the BAR website, I have :thumbup .

Made some good progress today on the structural firewall welding, i got most of it boxed in and ready for seam sealing which will tidy up some of my pinholes, welding thick steel to thin stuff is a right pain! Also i routed the fuel filler hose which needs to go in the cabin side due to space issues....

The day ended with part of the unboltable lid made and bolted down, the face of the wall will be unboltable too and that small section missing from the right hand side top will be a hinged flap so that i can top oil up easily without having to unbolt anything...

So apart from needing to tidy up the welded seams on the wall and seam seal it all before painting i am pretty happy with this.
