... and more importantly, how easy is it to fix?

Are they fibreglass, or some wierd composite?

I've just bought what was a mint SC engine lid, but the courier has managed to smash (bend over and snap) 2 corners, scuff the top and dent a side. Wondering if I should try and get it fixed or just start again?

Thanks,
Jon

It's fiberglass. And the courier should buy you a new one.

Thanks.

Fibreglass makes it much easier to work with, as any bodyshop worth dealing with should be able to make it like new again.

I agree that the courier should pay, but I reckon they'll turn round and say that it wasn't packaged well enough.

I needed to get it resprayed anyway, so the cost of fixing the damage might be reasonable. I'll see what they offer...

Cheers,
Jon

Anyone contemplating buying a used one needs to make darn sure the seller is packageing and insuring these well. You are not the first to receive a damaged SC engine cover.
