LOL, it's 4am and I just finished wiring these babies up after about 9 hours worth of work! It was so easy and I'm surprised that nobody beat me to it.

Well, like most have said before, in order for this ultra cool mod to work on USDM cars you NEED the ECU, switch, lights, JDM Wiring diagram and steering sensor. :thumbup

YOU DO NOT NEED a Power Steering ECU/ harness or what ever other rumors that are floating around. :bsflag:

Heres a little step by step with some pictures. If anyone wants some help doing this I am more then willing to help out any way possible.

Video of it in action!

First: Get your hands on a JDM Wiring Diagram. I found mine in a search. (Thanks Ishii!!) This is THE MOST critical part of the install.

Second: Open the ECU and note that all of the wires coming in are labeled on the circuit board. Match these wires with their corresponding numbers on the diagram.

Third: Follow the 5 wires to each fog light using the diagram. This is very straight forward and involves just following the 5 wires from each light to the ecu. They are even the same colors!

Hi

I have got the lights, control box, the JDM rocker switch (for steering light, off, or not steering but fogs on) and most of the wiring harness, car has power steering so don't need the Steering Position Sensor as the turning fogs use same sensor.

Fortunately my car does have the 4 pin plug for the JDM 3 position fog switch in the loom already, was taped up out the way, after a lot of tracing - 2 of these wires (RED and Yellow) end up down passenger side kick panel area far back bottom long connector I fitted the Red (LMP and Yellow (MSW) from Turning Fog ECU to the plug which didn't have the pins fitted (took the plugs from donor car, positions matched up, used tools to pop the female pins out and put in my cars plug) the other 2, one is chassis / GRND = white with black line, the last one Green with Yellow Line goes to the fog light relay, these 2 wires are also connected to the basic on off switch for "standard" fog lights so simply remove original switch and tape that connector up out the way.

UWSW Blue wire from Fog Ref ECU seems to have something to do with ignition key insertion switch as soon as key is inserted (not turned) this blue wire is grounded, pull key out it rises to 10 odd volts, I've wired it in to the position on the original plug I took from donor car, the other side of the loom in my car that this wire now connects to via the plug is also blue but as of yet I have not traced its exact location hence the "it seems to have something" will update when I find out.

The lights were easy as I removed the compete loom from front of donor MR2 so just fit and plug in, bolt ECU to side area, carfully cut plastic cover to suit, looks like it was always there.

Steering Position Sensor:
This had 5 terminals if you pop the lid off you have :
E, 1, C, 2, B on the PCB.

If you have the wire harness that plug into the steering position sensor they will be as below:

E = Black wire = chassis ground (no power steering you will need to run wire to chassis).
1 = White Wire = SS2
C = Brown Wire = SSC
2 = Green Wire = SS1
B = Red = VS

Note that SS1 and SS2 can be reversed as a few diagrams I found SS1 at steering sensor went to SS2 at power steering ECU, and SS2 at steering sensor went to SS1 on Power Steering ECU on the actual Power Steering ECU so if your fog lights turn the wrong way swap these round on the FOG LIGHT ECU end ONLY !. either at sensor (no power steering) or where you joined in to pick up the SS1 & SS1 feed in your loom if you have PS

On my car which has power steering.

SS1 = Yellow with red line ------> Green Wire or "2" terminal on steering position sensor
SS2 = Yellow with red line ------> White wire or "1" terminal on steering position sensor
SSC = Yellow with Green line ------> Brown wire or "C" terminal on steering position sensor
VS = Yellow with black line ------> Red Wire or "B" terminal on steering position sensor

These 4 above will join into power steering sensor position wiring either at steering column if you don't have PS (but now have sensor) or if you have power steering to the black power steering ECU or loom in passenger foot well, what ever is easiest.

If you didn't have PS but now have the sensor you will need to connect E terminal or black wire from steering position sensor to a convenient bolt that's part of car chassis.

I actually cut all other wires off the power steering plugs from donor car and left the plugs connected to the fog light wiring loom I took out so when I came to wire in to my car I joined these to the same connector positions on my car a 1994 Turbo with power steering under glove box / side kick panel down where the door wiring plugs in wiring harness right at the back, all colours were the same except the VS = Yellow and black, joined into a Red with Blue strip wire, as that position was already used but before joining I checked continuity from VS on steering position sensor to the red with blue stripe wire and it definitely went there so spliced the Yellow with Black line wire to the Red with blue line.

SP = Violet with white stripe line - this joined to the black PS ECU wiring in front trunk.

+B = white with red stripe line I joined into another wire of same colour under glove box area high up after confirming it was a permanent +12v

IG = Red with blue strip line, I joined into another wire of same colour under glove box area after confirming it was a switched live with ignition.

GND = White with black stripe line, easy bolted right to fixing plate / chassis.

The last thing you will need to do is give the RED - LMP wire a switched power supply of 12v off ignition as without it the LEDs in the original JDM switch (where LMP also goes) won't work and the steering fogs won't turn either.

Hope this helps

Sorry for poor hand writing, typical engineer scrawl, the RM1, RM2 + LM1, LM2 I started to draw the motors across so that's what they are meant to be in first picture.

Thinking...…….
MSW = Motorised SWitch position
LMP = LaMP -- turns fog relay on to light the lamps
UWSW = Unmotorized Working SWitch position
VS = Voltage to Switch
SSC = no idea but steering sense common?

All the above are guesses< I will have a go and see what I can figure out, if anyone has a link to the proper wiring diagram for these turning fogs it would be greatly appreciated as I simply can't find it, every download I fing has USA or Canada plain fog lights not with turning function, pulled my hair out.

Cheers

I am so glad people like you exist! I just got a set of these and will do the install this weekend, will let you know how it goes =) If you know of any new development, please let me know.

Would there be any chance of you taking some photos of the ecu unit and where you mounted it in the frunk area?

Thanks.
Got everything hooked up, except the blue wire, any idea where that went? I don't have a donor harness and hooked everything up at the steering column. So far, its got power, but unit not working yet. I only hooked up the lwft side to see, not sure if both sides have to be hooked up for it to work?

Thanks
