Hi All,

Yesterday we went to our local 7-eleven to put gas before a customer viewing and the gas cap wouldn't come off... We went back home and attempted to remove it using channel lock pliers and after about 30 minutes trying to get it off we were able to turn it loose with our bare hands.. Since then, we lubed up the cap and gasket and it turns without issues now, but was wondering what was causing a gas cap to be pressurized beyond what seems normal. Maybe it was over-tightened or seized while in-transit from Japan? Skipped a thread?

Thank you,

Sometimes the valve in the cap stops working holding pressure/vacuum in the tank sucking the cap on making it very hard to remove. It may or may not be this but from hearing this happen a few times on all manner of Toyota it's more likely than not.

Interesting. Didn't know it was a Toyota issue. I've had 15 cars in 10 years and this was a first.
