i was boosting for a long time on the freeway and my lights went dim. so i went to my freids house as fast as i could because of my alternaror. i was looking at the engine bay and noticed that the exhaust side of my turbo was glowing now is that bad. i do turbo time for a few minutes. well in this case longer until it wasnt glowing and then some.

glowing exhaust housing is fine. what temp do you think exhaust gases are?

Steel begins to glow red between 1200F and 1500F. Your exhaust can easily reach that temperature pre-turbine.

Should have taken a pic. They look cool when they glow.

I've seen pictures of them so hot that you can see the veins on the turbine wheel!!

thats crazy mine wasnt that hot but thanx for you help no i have to get a new a;ternator .

Glowing exh mani/turbine... is normal.... esp coming off the freeway.
