I'm not sure why, but my 85 idles way, way too high..especially when its cold outside. When I start it up in the morning it runs around 4k, but after i get going and drive a while it goes down to 3k. and thats where she stays. Any ideas on this? It's really starting to bug me and I assume it's using up quite a bit of gas as well, but that's just a guess.

The engine is designed to idle at around 2,000 rpms during warmup and 800 rpms when at operating temperature. First, check the accelerator cable and linkage to see if everyhing is moving freely and there are no hangups that is causing the butterfly valve in the throttle body to stay partially open. Next, check the vacuum hoses for leaks. Third, try adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body.
