The only bit that could be trouble is the snap link on the head of the shaft - but there's a special snap link plier for that.

Now that new axles are available again from a couple of aftermarket sources, is it cost-effective to remove and rebuild versus purchase new? The most common issue is a torn boot. New boot kit is about $50 from Toyota. The new axles ain't cheap. It's always seemed wasteful to me to replace an entire axle just because of a torn boot, but for most cars, this is standard practice at most shops;

Either way, I am going through this exercise in order to upgrade the inner CV joint with the ATS Racing chrome-moly components. For that, there is no economical option but to disassemble and rebuild.
