hey guys, i know this should prolly be in the hybrid forum, but i figured i'd get more feedback on this here.
im doing a 5sfte in my 94 celica, with the following:
3s exhaust mani.
ct-27 (w/ported wastegate so i can run low boost and have no creep)
3"berk tech. DP
2 1/4" intercooler piping
23x6x3 FMIC
315cc injectors(these wont last long..looking to upgrade to prolly 440's)
safc&btm
boost, oil pressure and EGT gauges
all stainless braided lines for oil feed & return and oil filter relocation kit
now for the question..lol
i've been thinking about having my exhaust manifold heat coated by finishline coatings, i emailed them about it and this is what they had to say:

Good Morning
If you have a Toyota, the cost for the exhaust manifold coating would be
$85.00. We coat inside and double coat on the outside. The Cermachrome -
bright and shiny - will never turn blue or gold. It will also keep at
least 50% of your exhaust temp inside the manifold so your under hood
temps will be much cooler.
We ship UPS if necessary or you can stop by our shop to drop off your
manifold.
Please give us a call if you have additional questions. 503 659-4278.
Thanks for your inquiry

what are your thoughts on this? good idea? bad idea? worth it?
my understanding is that it would be a good thing, keeping the heat in, = better velocity = better spool...ect..is that correct?
thanks for your help guys!

I would ask them what the guarantee is? Did you tell them that this is for a turbo motor? I looked and looked for a glosssy coating for exhaust componets and jet hot 2000 is the only company I found. Your exhaust coating needs to be able to withstand 1300-1400F temps.

I had 2 alltracs with HPC coated exhaust manifolds and heat shields from Finishline, they held up great (although my manifold was done in Black Satin). I didnt have too much luck with Jet Hot, they managed to damage some of my stuff and wouldnt
coat some of the other stuff (that Finishline did without any problems).

I've been thinking about getting a stock exhaust manifold extrude honed and coated. Would that be benificial?
The stock casting is rough inside. EH'ing it would smooth it out, improve & equalize flow and reduce heat transfer. If you decide to do it, consider EH'ing the exhaust manifold and the turbine housing as a unit.

Edit: I have an EH'd turbine housing and highly recommend it.
