FS: 1988 Supercharged MK1 MR2 239K miles $2,000
Super White, Hardtop, Base Model (cloth seats, crank windows, no wing or side skirts), Stock supercharged engine lid. Original owner.

JDM DLI 4AGZE installed by Su at Aggressive Performance at 183K back in 2006.
HKS OD pulley, Bell Intercoolers bar and plate Intercooler w/ FF Dymanics Fan. I still have the stock IC

E51 Manual Transmission, Clutchmasters FX300 Clutch. Stock FW

Enkei RSF-2 15X6.5 Wheels, Yokahama S Drive 195x50x15 front, 205x50x15 rear

TRD Springs (late), Koni Yellow adjustable struts. Bushings, tie rod ends, ball joints all replaced less than 20k miles ago

Battery relocated to frunk. Original donut spare. SV3 exhaust. new magnaflow cat

The Bad: Moderate Oil leak (I think it’s at the cam angle sensor, Su thought it was the front cam seals), Paint is a “10 footer” AC not installed (I have the compressor and mount). Seats worn, but no holes. Small indentation of left front pan below bumper (can only see it if you know where to look)

The Good: It’s a hardtop. No leaky t-tops or sunroof. Very light.

Extras: Spare RT front fender, 7 Qts. Redline MT90 tranny fluid, 1 Qt supercharger oil, Factory Repair manual (BGB). Spare belts and other assorted small parts

Just passed smog,. Just paid registration.

Things to consider: It is a 29 year old car. 57K miles since timing belt changed. JDM DLI motor (if you don’t understand the implications of this in California….) If I were buying this car I would pull the motor, and change all gaskets (including HG), replace timing belt and water pump, and fix oil leak (I think there is a seal kit for the DLI cam sensor from KBox). It drives fine now, but burning oil leaves a residue in engine bay. TRD springs make front very low.

In Santa Clara/San Jose. No trades. Lowballers will be ignored. PM me or email: [email protected] , Can email pictures.

just read your ad, seems like a great starting point to make a really nice car for someone not afraid to wrench on the car themself. lots of good parts on there probbaly worth more than what you are asking for the car. someone should grab this. sorry to see you go--I am the same age as you and have also been around the boards for a decade and seen the enthusiasm wane. Same as happened at other vintage Japanese car forums, like the CRX and RX7 ones.

plan on hanging onto my SC until i can't get in and out of it anymore.

what are you replacing it with?

Yes sir, someone once said that an old car is like a stripper, you keep on throwing money at them hoping something wonderful will happen.

You know the story behind my Bell Intercoolers IC. I paid for the tooling in hopes that all the people that said they would buy a modern intercooler drop in replacement if it were available, would buy one. No one else bought one and Bell junked the tooling. I probably could part the car out for much more than I am asking, but I would much rather see the car sold to someone who will appreciate it as a car and not an opportunity to make a profit.

I found a 2015 FR-S with 20K miles and an extended warranty which will soon will be voided. If you aren't breaking things, you aren't having fun.
I see this as the end of an era. Both of my '86 cars died last summer because the frame damage reached a point where the state inspectors would no longer certify the cars as roadworthy. The frames rusted from the inside out in exactly the same place, and since they were both up for inspection in June, they died on the same day, just like Jefferson and Adams. I decided that I was done with the MK1 because of the parts situation, even though they were my favorite cars. I have an '04 spyder now.

Hi Bob. When I started at UCLA in '76, I met a bunch of guys from NY and NJ. They were amazed at the number of old cars we have out here because they all rusted out from the salt in the NE. They also had an affinity for Bruce Springsteen that I just couldn't understand.

You have room for one last MK1, don't you? The power available down low from the supercharger makes it a different driving experience from the NA. Tell your new wife that you bought it for her. ;)
My wife is done with the MK1 also. She drove my second one for 16 years, and she really liked it too, but the romance was gone after it blew coolant deep in the Catskills. She has a Yaris now that she is totally in love with. :dontknow:

I bet that the spyder is a good match for the SC, unless you did something dirty with the pulley.
Is this still for sale, I know someone who is seriously interested in buying the car.
