Didn't you have some pimpy HRE's when you bought the car?
I was a bit in shock, but the pimpy HRE's are in aggregate (all four corners) only 8 pounds lighter than the stock wheels. I expect to save a lot more unsprung mass with the new wheels and lugs. I will report back on what I used and the weight savings once I get them all.

Got the Wed Sports rears, and they are 9.5 pounds lighter EACH than stock rims. Not bad! SSRs should be hear in a few days, as well as Millennia wheels. I'm probably looking at a total of 35-37 pounds of unsprung mass reduction, including aluminum lugs. :)

My baby (Elise) is retired. She was backed into and I got the front end repaired (including a substantial amount of cone damage) by insurance and now that she's like new, I'm keeping her that way. I get her back this weekend. :thumbup

How many sets of wheels do you have now? I know that 3 sets came with the car...do you think that 6 sets is enough?...hehe

Wellllll, I'm a bit embarassed by the number, but right now it IS INDEED six sets plus two extra Millenia fronts I don't need. Overkill? maybe, but try this on for size after I get all the tires moved around:

2 sets of Hoosiers, older set and newer national event set mounted on the 2 sets of lightweight wheels (Millenia fronts and Wedsports rears for one, SSRs rears for the other), the HREs host Hoosier rain tires, Toyo R888s for the track on a stock set, and extra stock set with some streetable but not great Kumhos (can you say EVO school?) and of course the streets on the 14s. So you see, they all have their purpose. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

PS. Anyone need a set of Millenia fronts in not perfect shape cosmetically but fine otherwise? $150 shipped.

Well if it makes you feel better, my personal record is 46 wheels for the same car, or 11.5 sets. I quit autocrossing, and am down to just 5.5 sets now, with most of those for sale. 'Course, I am up to two and a half sets for the racecar, and climbing.

Any update on studs? I will be playing with this soon on my 2. A bit of a surprise for you all---the 15X7 SSRs are a 1/2 pound heavier than the 15X7 Wedssports wheels. Who woulda thunk it? 10 1/2 for the Wedssports, 1 pounds for the SSRs. Both are 9 pounds+ lighter than stock rear rims.

ARP studs listed for "lexus IS300" have the right size knurl & thread pitch. They are longer than you need. If you don't like the studs sticking out past the wheels just cut off the extra threads.

Okay, probably a dumb question but here goes:

On ther back, with either SSRs or the Wedssports and a 3MM spacer, I'm only getting about 7 full turns with the lug nuts. Is that enough to be safe, or do I need to get longer studs for those, too? I'd rather not replace those studs too if I don't have to, although the fronts weren't as bad as I thought they'd be.

I've heard 5-turns is adequate. I believe the rule of thumb for bolts is you want at least as much length of threads as width in bolt. 7 x 1.5 is about 11. Your bolt is 12mm wide. I think you'll be good. I think a lot of folks have run the SSRs without any modification for many years with no issues.

Thanks, Randy. That's great. BTW-my total weight savings with Wedssports and Millenia wheels AND aluminum lugs is 36 pounds on stock. :) It's 35 pounds with the SSRs in the rear.

For those of you running Millenia wheels, which spacers are you purchasing? My thought was to just buy 10mm spacers made for the MR2 (MKII) and then add hubcentric rings to the Millenia wheels. Are others doing it differently? Suggestions welcome!
