i know that code 42 is vehicle speed sensor code. and that code 24 is "open or short for more than .5 seconds" in some part of the circuit to the afm. my question is, is there a common reason that we get code 24? or is my best bet to actually take my ohmmeter to it? and for code 42 it says check the vehicle speed sensor by one of the front wheels. my car is a 91 w/ a 93 3s and i recently had a speedometer cable failure. would i be getting this code just for the speedometer cable? thanks, jon

Code 42 would be in reference to the "Vehicle Speed Sensor," not the ABS wheel speed sensor. Since the VSS is driven by the speedo cable, this could be your problem.

Not too sure why you have a code 24. I never got that, even when my afm went out.

ALLDATA's fix for code 42 is the "vehicle speed sensor" on either of the front wheels. i was just asking if, since my car is a 91, that would be just a speedo cable fix.
