Hey everyone. I have a 1991 sw21 MR2 manual transmission and every morning, it starts up fine but as soon as I put it in reverse, the rpms drop to where it almost dies. After it does this I put it back and neutral and then reverse to try and replicate the problem but it doesn't do it again. Even after I get off work and the car sat for about eleven hours, it still won't have the problem until morning. Does anyone have an idea of what it could be?

Not enough air\fuel\spark to stay running at low rpm

It could be needing a serious tune up check...
electrical (coil ,rotor, spark plug, wires) fuel system partsor air leaks(Idle air control valve check it) hoses leaks, manifold lose.... look over the trans fluid.

if you have vibration most likely means that the engine isn't getting enough fuel and that some where along the fuel system something is clogged.

how many miles does it have, has it been well maintained....

Yes the reverse lights still work. Here's a video of the problem occurring so you can get a better idea. It did die this time in the video and after it died I noticed a sound of some type of motor still running.
