When I bought my mk1 the e-brake didn't work so I got under there and looked at them and they don't move like they rusted in place, is there a way to get them un"frozen"? Or do I have choke up the 50 bucks a piece from autozone?(cheaper places??)

Once stuck they are pretty much done... new ones are the solution. It's still a weak point on the newest Spyders.

www.rockauto.com has some. I just bought them from there. I was happy with the quality of one but not as thrilled iwth the other. Toyota sells them for slightly more.

Alternatively, there have been a couple people that have rigged a solution themselves for very little $.
