Hello all, so I in need of some help, I am looking into an MR2 that is pretty tore up, it's beevon the middle of a trany swap for about 4yrs. So it's all over the place. Anyways I was wondering if there is a visible difference between the s54 and they eat 153? This car what is n/a from the factory but somebody did a turbo swap on it and I was wondering how to tell if the transmission was changed out as well
Look at the front of the transmission. The E153 will have a tube loop to help with cooling. The S54 does not. Also the speed sensor is located on the back of the E153, but it is on the top of the S54.
The speed sensor for both transmissions is on the back. They are very similar in design but yes, that cooling loop pipe on the front underneath is E153 only.
