Ok, trying to get some opinions and gauge just how difficult this would be.

There's a brief writeup on twosrus.com about turning a MKII into a tire trailer: http://www.twosrus.com/new/Lower_Frames/Articles/trailer.htm

I really like this idea, and wondering if any of you fabrication guys can weigh in on the difficulty of a project like this.

It'd be the same idea as the writeup on twosrus- gut engine and trans, hack off everything in front of the rear firewall, weld in a floor, weld in a draw bar, fill in any cosmetic holes. Obviously it'd be smaller overall than the MKII idea but I still think it'd be great for small loads, autox tires, etc.

Has anyone besides David done this?
Thoughts?

A guy with a MKI did a VERY nice trailer that was featured in Popular Mechanics a while back. It's not very difficult. I gave the back half to my fabrictor and he put the draw bar and floor in for $200. My trailer never got finished to the level I would have liked, but it got plenty of attention even in unfinished form.

Go for it!
