I need to replace my external axle boot on the driverside for a 91 3sgte without removing the axle from the transcase. The axle is just hanging there with all the suspension parts removed. I have never done an axle boot or anything trans related. Im sort of scraed of messing up the ball joints or the inboard joint. Can anyone add some insight on how I go about this? Thanks

peace

You need to pull the axle. Toyota sells a CV boot kit(includes both inner & outer boot, grease, and clamps). The inner boot and CV joint must be removed to replace the outer boot. This is the proper way to do it. Another alternative is to have a shop put on a cheap flimsy boot that can be stretched over the hub(with the special tool of course) and will most likely end up leaking grease.

Thanks for the post sincity.

Have you replaced the cv boots? I would like to see if I could do this myself first. Do you have any links that could aid me? I haven't found any how-tos on this topic.

thanks
