Okay, hear me out or tell me I’m nuts. I’m sure by now it’s common knowledge that distributors for the Gen2 3SGTE are less common than we’d all like (especially considering the price used ones go for). But for those of use with standalone ECUs, would it be possible to use the 5SFE distributor on a 3SGTE. Idk if it would even fit in the hole meant for it which is why I’m making this post. But maybe some of you can let me know

I think they are semi hard t find but still around. There are rebuild kits available and spec for the magnets/pick up in the BGB

If you had a stand-alone I’d just go distributorless at that point in time rather than try to shoe horn something in

Yeah you’re probably right about trying to make that work but going distributorless isn’t a cheap option at all. If I can find a Gen 2 one that works for a decent price then I’ll just stick with that for now.

Are you unable to repair the one you have?
Well to be clear, I currently am not sure whether or not it’s messed up, I rebuilt it but and it all looked good. This is all stemming from a no spark condition I’m currently chasing around so I’m just trying to cover my bases as far as part availability

Okay, so, after trying out an igniter from MR2-Ben, and then an igniter-coil combo BlueDragon lent me, I still have so spark. Not even out of the high tension lead off of the coil. I honestly have no clue what this means and I’m feeling real defeated. Any input?

Have you gone through the procedure in the manual to check both? It’s fairly straight forward. I diagnosed a bad ignitor on our using it. Our replacement came two days ago and was installed today with success. Expensive but nice thave our car running again. Wishing you the same luck. We have a first gen model factory manual. If you don’t have one maybe somebody could take a photo of the three pages and post them.

Yeah I have gone through the factory manual's procedure. All the testing pointed me towards the igniter and I got a new one from MR2-Ben but im still having no spark. I have a brand new ignition coil coming in a couple of days so if that doesn't show some results i'll really be stumped.
