A lot of work done on the interior. Sparco sprint seats (tight fit for my size!), TCI outlaw shifter for Mitsu w4a33 auto trans, infinity 5 channel Bluetooth amp, new speakers, etc.

You can see the Fueltech FT550 in dash also :)

Mock up Engine in. Requires notching of the passenger side frame to tuck trans under, to make equal length axles and room for accessory belts on driver side

Ended up using rav4 axles with Mitsu inner cups and Non-turbo hubs to match the rav4 26spline

Sat it on the ground last night. Will need to mess with ride height and alignment. Front trailing arm nuts are seized up so will need some heat to free them up. Need to pull the front wheels forward to center in wheel well.

Car looks amazing though. Nitto NT05’s front and rear. 17x9 235’s up front. 18x9.5 275’s rear. +35 -12 spacers front and rear so +23 effective offsets.

Paint needs some work yet. previous owner started wet sanding some of it and stopped. We’ll just cut and buff everything and try to bring some shine out. Will probably wrap it eventually but should be presentable from 20ft soon.

So what’s the Goal and Next steps…
- want a fun and fast Street/strip daily driver that can do everything and also compete in Hard Tire classes in No Prep drag racing.
-due date: Feb 11, need to leave Indiana for FL, for Sick Week Drag n Drive event that we are signed up for. (I’ve done several Rocky Mountain Race Weeks and the first Sick Week in a previous build of mine…twin turbo’d LS swapped 4wd 3000GT)

-long block delivered today from a buddy
—7 bolt 4g63 with eagle stroker crank for a 2.3l stroker, Wiseco HD pistons, K1 rods, Kelford 272 cams, Kiggly beehive springs, etc
—w4a33 awd auto trans with welded center diff and removed tcase to run it as “fwd” only. TRE LSD insert. Shift kit. Upgraded clutches, Precision Industries tq converter.
—FT550, IGN1A coils, Bosch 210 injectors, flex fuel
—Forced Performance Turbo (Xona Rotor 7157s in a bolt on TD05 configuration, a bit customized:) ). 71lb/min 59mm turbo.
—w2a intercooler all stuffed in trunk

Next steps…
—jam the built motor in, finish engine harness wiring (adapting a LS plug n play harness), misc turbo lines, fab oil cooler mount, trans cooler, fab intercooler piping, fab downpipe to eBay exhaust.
—mess with suspension
—fire it up, and start tuning and driving to FL lol

I travel a lot for work, so this has been my weekends for past 2.5 months. Lot of planning to have parts and services done and available for the next weekend when I’m home.

If all goes well, we’ll be running 11.50 index (no cage and they enforce NHRA rules) at Sick Week starting Feb12 and then clean it up some more, figure out AC and drive the crap out of it. Then go win some races in 1/8mi No Prep.

Ok, legit question:WHY? Why not just use the 3sgte?
Way back in the late '90s/early 2000s Sport Compact Car magazine rated the 4G63 the strongest most durable 4 cylinder you could buy. This was a time when Eclipses/Talons were very common and heavily raced and lots of development being done. They rated the 3SGTE a close second.

Why go through the hassle to swap the 4G63?

Not bashing or judging, just wondering what you reasoning is.

Lastly, cool project!

Two reasons,,,
1)it’s what I know and have parts for
2) robust auto trans

I love auto’s for street and drag. The Mitsu auto holds a lot of power with nothing done. Cheap shift kit and clutches will hold 5-700whp. Then more options available for in the 1200whp++ range and has been 7.0x in 1/4.

No, I’m not going after records. But I purposefully bought a shell without a drivetrain because I knew I wanted a 4g auto. I do a lot of No Prep racing. Thinking the mr2 will be used for Hard Tire classes.

FYI, I pioneered the 4g63 swap in 3000GTs and build swap mounts for them. The 3000GT chassis record is with my mounts and a 4g63 awd auto (buddy of mine). 4Gswap.com. (My old 3000 was #5 at one time with full interior, stock glass etc with a little 2.0 awd; currently #8. Then I Ls swapped it and went really fast on No Prep but not much 1/4 mile. Technically #2 for chassis but they don’t count it. And that was at 1/3 of the boost I would run normally lol).

Also have a YouTube channel,,,FamilyMan Racing. I somewhat document builds. Have No Prep racing vids. And Drag N Drive vids (those do decent on views for my little channel).

Ok then...lol. Makes sense. this thing aught to rip once you get it dialed in. Mid engine grip should help
yeah I'm excited. should be fun. I had a non-turbo auto back in highschool/college. and then a 3000gt vr4 in college after selling mr2. I sold 3000 when we got married and started cranking out kiddos lol. just mid-life fun (crisis?) building silly swaps with the cars I loved over the years

What cars used that automatic trans? is it an AWD trans being used for 2wd or what. Interested minds want to know.
Any turbo eclipse, laser etc. Fwd or awd. Mine is awd. Welded center diff, so I can ditch the tcase and still drive.
