The S54 is not as strong as the E153. The weak point of the S54 is the differential, so if you have the TRD LSD it should be stronger.
Got it. How about the NA ratios for use with the V6--any thoughts along those lines?

It depends on your use, but I actually preferred the S54 ratios over the E153 ratios. The shorter gearing is a lot of fun! First and second gear are about the same between the two transmissions and third through fifth are a little bit longer in the E153. The longer fifth does make it slightly better for freeway cruising. But you can get an even longer fifth gear in the S54 if you swap out a fifth gear from a S51 transmission.
