I was using a Camry CTS pedal with an extra stiffer spring and it just felt bad, dead. I picked up a LS460 Denso pedal and cut the end off, straightened the nub and made a mount for a new arm. I don't know how much room is under an MR2, mine is in a Lotus and there is no room. Mine protrudes into the trunk and is 1/2" below the hood. If there is room to lengthen it this works.

I used a LS460 pedal as two of the holes are the same as the Camry and it would make it easy to check without much work. The LS460 pedal has less travel but it is the same usable travel as the Camry pedal. The Camry throttle opening was maxed way before hitting the stop but the max opening happens at the same accel travel as the LS460. I had both mounted to my bench to check.

I tried making it a two stage pedal up to 30% throttle. It worked but the first 30% was too soft and not worth the trouble to finish, 20 hours wasted....

In the end, I used an couple of Ace hardware springs to add a lot of stiffness. I had to grind the top OD on the larger one. I'll order some springs soon now that it works and try to find a opposite wound one for the middle one. I also ordered some 1:10 RC shocks to add to it. They didn't come before finishing and I don't think I'll need to add them. It's pretty good as is. Yesterday I finally left a stop light in 1st gear like a normal car.

Update, I added some 110mm RC shocks and removed the smaller added spring in the pedal. On the top shock I'm only using 50% of the travel to get fulll range of dampening as the top 50% doesn't dampen. Pretty thick oil in this one. On the bottom shock I'm using about 90% travel with minimal very thin oil to lubricate and a stiff spring. If these don't work long term I'll use an AD1425 hydraulic damper. So far it is good. I need to stiffen it up a little more though. It feels about as nice as my Frontier with a cable. The drag/resistance is about the same and a quick lift at high rpm does't upset the car.
