It's listed on E-bay..I'm 90% sure Dad said it was Steel grey Mist...but that was a long time ago. He got it late 1990. I think they were in Europe and Japan before that model came to America in late 1990 as a 1991 model.

In 1991, the official Toyota name is "Steel Gray Mist". For the 1992 model year and thereafter, they changed it to "Steel Mist Gray". Maybe it was just a typo in the 91 brochures. Now most folks refer to it as "SMG".

It was a turbo exclusive color until the 1993 model year.

I definitely remember it was a special rare color. Hard to get even when I bought my red MR2 brand new in '92. It was the sales rep that told me it was Gun Metal Gray, but they really aren't hired for accuracy. Just sales. On a side note, I really like the Red of 91 and 92 over 93+. I still have my 92 and bought another red 91 last year. I think this Crimson Red (I believe) with a black pearl clear coat would look pretty awesome at night in the street lights.

Decent cosmetic shape, rare color, one owner... I'd take a flyer on this at the current bid if I had the time even if it might need an engine rebuild. But probably "just" needs a new battery, fuel and possibly fuel pump. Maybe plug wires if critters got to them. Would be nice to see some pics of the engine and frunk, and more shots of the interior.

@smcbride - Just under 3% of 91/92 north American MR2s were SMG. So yeah, pretty rare.

Good luck with the sale. Car looks all original. Probably a good deal for someone who knows how to turn a wrench, assuming the reason it's not running is just because it's been sitting in storage all these years.
