All, my front "lip" was toast, so I got a piece of AL and built an air dam to replace it.

Now I am trying to decide if I should add a splitter lip to it.

I have read several posts that discuss materials and show what others have done, but they all seem to be MKII's.

If I add a 1/4" thick Alumalite, or plywood, splitter, how far out from the air dam should it extend? And since the heat exchanger and radiator need the "through the front and out the bottom" air flow, I will not be able to extend the splitter under the front and toward the back, will I?

Given that I had to cut the air dam by 1-1/2" to gain glearance to get in and out of my driveway, it now sits 5-1/2" above the ground. So I will probably not get "alot" of effect from anything I add, but can I get some help from a splitter lip?

Any help and suggestions are welcome!

Well, never got any answers or suggestions, so I built this.

It is made made of plywood, 11/32" thick, (in 2 sections since I did not want to buy an 8' long piece), coated in a 2 part epoxy to seal it, then painted.

I think it looks OK and hope it will be of some benefit!
