  1. Power Steering setup help

    MKII, 90-99 NA & Turbo
This document will help with details. The last page is really all you need for a transplant. The power steering pump motor need 9-11v with speed at 0km/h, down to 3-5v with speed at 65km/h. How to control that without the SW20 driver, I don't know. The sucker draws a lot of current. You'll find...
  2. Advice

    V6 MR2 Forum
I did a swap of 1993 NA MR2 5sFE/S54 to 2GR/E153. I used almost all "off-the shelf" and "store-bought" parts so I didn't have to fabricate anything. Engine and pedal mounts and headers and ECU from Gouky, Y-pipe from DDPR (now available for less from AlexW), Berk muffler, engine harness...
  3. Power Steering setup help

    MKII, 90-99 NA & Turbo
Crazy how many times I've posted this in the last few days but if it can be of any help to anybody here it is one more time.
  4. Power Steering Disable at speed?

    V6 MR2 Forum
This should be managed by the power steering ECU. The ECM just tells the P/S ECU whether the engine is running or not, on PSCT/EFI. Anyway, for test purpose, you can disconnect the power steering relay from the harness in the frunk, and there will be no power steering, at any speed. See if that...
  5. GEN4 3SGTE swap OBD1 port

Common Engine Swaps and Related Discussions
Elsewhere it is confirmed that the P/S terminal is Tc.

It should be added that the DLC is useful for diagnosing P/S and ABS - as i was just reminded today. Ha ha. Ha ha ha ha. Those systems have their own ECU's. Interesting that the text of the BGB suggests Te but the illustration suggests Tc.
  7. Check engine light

    MKIII MR2 Spyder 2000 - 2007
This code is specific to the SMT transmission. It has to do with the input shaft speed sensor. This sensor is located on the top side of the transmission, underneath the air box. It has a pigtail connector that goes into the harness. It's possible that removing the sensor and cleaning it may...
  8. Option to revert back to the old layout

    Home Page News
Look at it this way: sooner or later, if there were an option to keep the "classic" look, it would be eventually ended, and you would have to use the "new and improved" look. This has happened with countless other websites, for example, the Yahoo Mail web client, and others. Just sit back, and...
  9. Anybody interested in a EA60 Evora Trans?

    V6 MR2 Forum
Did I read somewhere that this thing has dual output shafts?
  10. Anybody interested in a EA60 Evora Trans?

    V6 MR2 Forum
Aside from having six forward gears, which is very cool, does this transmission have anything to offer over the e153? Is it lighter? Stronger? More durable? Easier to find parts? Just curious.

Also, give this a quick read.

Before you jump to conclusions re the sensors, I suggest that you swap them bank to bank. If the fault follows the sensor, replace the sensor. Otherwise you have more troubleshooting to do.

Take a quick look in the "2GR-FE OEM parts reference" thread. https://www.mr2oc.com/threads/2gr-oem-part-reference-thread.650777/
  14. 93 MR2 JDM Turbo - No Start Issue

    MKII, 90-99 NA & Turbo
PS. Unless you need to go diggining into the ignition circuit, you will not need any wiring diagrams for trouble-shooting this.
  15. 93 MR2 JDM Turbo - No Start Issue

    MKII, 90-99 NA & Turbo
Ok try jumper the starter itself. Then work your way back from there. MAKE SURE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL OR OFF THE GROUND WHEN YOU JUMPER THE STARTER.
  16. 93 MR2 JDM Turbo - No Start Issue

    MKII, 90-99 NA & Turbo
If you have actually jumpered the power from the starter stud to the starter solenoid plug, and no nothing happened, then either then there is no constant 12v power coming to the starter, or the starter is no good, or the transmission case is not grounded.
  17. 3SGTE Swap Transmission Questions

Common Engine Swaps and Related Discussions
The e153 has a thick flat plate (about 6x9) bolted to the engine side of the differential housing - it's where the awd transfer case would bolt on in a GT-FOUR. The s54 has no such thing, the entire differential housing is a single casting. The e153 has a u-shaped oil cooler tube hanging on...
  18. Anybody attempt a EA60 install into a SW20

    3SGTE Turbo
Sorry I don't have any details. I think your best bet is to inquire on the UK forums, or on the Facebook V6 MR2 group. Besides Paul Wood who has done a few there is another member named Gavin Davenport (@gavdav) who has done this swap.
  19. GEN4 3SGTE swap OBD1 port

Common Engine Swaps and Related Discussions
    That was the 1zz here's the 2GR.
  20. GEN4 3SGTE swap OBD1 port

Common Engine Swaps and Related Discussions
Hm, interesting, I didn't realize the gen4 is that much unlike other COP Toyota engines, where the BGB does suggest locking the timing by jumpering Tc and Cg (see image). You learn something new every day.
