Power for time attack MR2
What kind of power should someone look for when considering building a dedicated time attack car, what power level would be needed to be competitive? Also, would a v6 be a better option than a turbo four cylinder?
What class and series are you looking at? Read the rule book, see where you think you can be competitive. How much experience as a driver do you have? Power has not much to do vs driver skill and chassis setup.
^^^^ Agreed! Read the rules, find what class you want to / can compete in first.
For example, I have started doing track days with NASA, with the possibility of eventually doing Time Trials. But due to too many modifications my car classes into TT2. There is also a 911 GT3 in that class...
Also, contrary to popular belief, power is actually NOT that important. For example, there is a well setup / well driven Miata running in TTE (meaning his weight/power ratio should be at least 16.5:1) that was running lap times almost 5 seconds faster than me on a ~1:50ish track). My weight/power ratio is about 8.5:1... Food for thought.
