Aircon radiator placement

Hi there,

Is there a way to relocate the AC cooler from the front to somewhere else? I was hoping to have the radiator unobstructed by the AC cooler but I do not want to get rid of the AC altogether.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, it's theoretically possible. Lots of custom work though. Would need to find a smaller condenser (probably), figure out where to mount it, and run custom lines to it.

What is your thought process behind this? I have never heard of an A/C condenser relocation on any car much less a MR2.

First off, I am not a pro at all so apologies if I may ask a silly question. I am currently in the process of getting my Mr2 refurbished after having it stored for about 13 years in my dry garage. This will be a serious built and I have an Mr2 specialist on hand who does all the work. I have the ideas, he does the work.

The idea behind relocating it is simply performance. I will have a water intercooler with the cooler mounted in the front. I don't want the AC to obstruct the intercooler.
Thanks!

Generally when doing A2W you mount the heat exchanger in front of everything without removing the A/C condenser.

There is nothing to gain from moving the condenser and it will be very difficult to move. As mentioned, put the A2W radiator in front or in the stock intercooler spot. Depending on the driving you do will depend on the best approach. Drag racing only needs a large reservoir with ice. Street driving won't matter much where it is. The ATS top mount idea is probably an approach to consider for circuit/street performance. Water requires two phase changes and is less efficient than A2A where they can be compared.
