288whp 16psi Gen3 Dyn0

Finally, after owning a car for 4 years and going to my third engine, I decided to dyno it at local dyno shop. Specs:
Gen3 swap
Mines ECU
BC 264 cams
Billet CT20B
Ko Racing 2.5" downpipe
Apexi intake
Greddy SP exhaust 2.5" with no CAT
Spearco Intercooler.
Manual Boost controller set at 16psi

I believe I could get 5-10 whp with my Garage fukui exhaust. This Greddy sp although very quiet most likely very restrictive.

Those are nice numbers. Aren't you suppose to be able to hit 315whp on a Billet ct20B? Why have you gone through three engines?

I was hoping for 300whp, but I guess I am close. I am at 16psi, so 17 would get me even closer to 300, adding better flowing exhaust should def put me at the mark. I believe cams do not do much at this stage but I am not sure. I got them with the purpose to go e85 down the road ( got the from the first failed engine ).
As for the 2 engines before this gen3 - both blew head gasket. I was not going crazy on boost, I believe it was at 17-18 when it blew. Probably the tune and 91 gas did the trick. Especially on the first "stock internals" engine. The second blew it too but it was purchased as a built engine. I have no definite answer why that blew a headgasket at 17-18psi of boost.
I will have my buddy dyno stock gen3 with CAT and Berk on the same dyno to see what is the difference in power. His engine feels really solid and powerful in stock form comparing to mine though. But we will see...

Nice! Congrats. I bet it's a really fun car with those numbers! This was on CA 91 gas?

I was also thinking the same thing - I wonder what contribution the cams have currently

Yes, that is with 91 gas. Most of the time I see 15psi but it reaches 16psi at times. I have AEM digital gauge, it does not go to decimals.
I saw here on site Gen4 dyno, with no cams and stock ECU put out 287whp and 272 torque (same billet ct20b, tcs sp exhaust and apexi intake). So mine is probably on par with the upgrades and cams if do add the gain is minimal without the tune.
It is fun. With Koni yellows and eibah pros it handles like go cart. So pairing that with this power it puts a smile on you whenever you drive the car. I always find a reason to take MR2 to work or shopping. Although I have a daily driver, I daily MR2 quite more That said, I always want a bit more - a problem I have and probably share with most car enthusiasts

Nice Job. Are the cams degreed? If so, what are the cam gear numbers for intake/exhaust.
I believe downpipe/exhaust is holding you below 300whp tbh

You can see the dip at 4k rpm when the Mine's Ecu starts dumping fuel. Fun street setup like mine.
i'm on similar setup but with full 3" exhaust and gsc 268 cams and a2w ic.

In preparation for tuning, I was advised to retard exhaust cam 6 degrees. So that is how those cams sit. If dyno would be a bit cheaper, I would experiment with different intake/exhausts/ECU setups to get over 300whp hump. But for now, it is fun
How much boost are you running with a2w intercooler setup? Did you dyno it?

looking good. was curious if you had an extra stock ecu? my car dies after a long drive (30 minutes to 40 minutes in this weather). swapped out a bunch of stuff........ignition, distributor, sensors and still happening.......trying to eliminate the ecu as a culprit but i don't have a known good working one.

Hey chochocho I have gen2 1991-1992 stock ecu and gen 2 1993-1995 mines ecu available if you want to test it out. I doubt it is ECU though. What engine do you have?

i've got a gen3 motor.........swapped out a bunch of stuff....but still no luck.....car just start losing power after about a 30 minute drive and the dies.....

it's pretty freaky especially with the sunol grade commute home to san ramon
