Reasons for lost members

Can't close or scroll past ads... What is the point of even trying to visit MR2OC anymore?

No one cares, the corporate site owners just looking to monetize what is left here.

What did happen to this place?

I dont see ads on my laptop, but I can see how that would push people away.

For me, when I tried to log on for the first time in years I couldnt, couldnt reset password.
Thankfully the admins got back to me and let me reset.

But, at some point in my absence, this place changed.
Used to be I would log on after three or four hours and there'd be at least a hundred new posts/threads that had been updated. Now I check once a day and there MIGHT be a dozen.

Did facebook change everything?
Or was it the corporate buyout?

I know back around black friday I noticed a lot of threads/ads for stuff not even related to MR2 at all.

Those kind of ads shouldn't be on the site. Can you try clearing cache and let me know if the ad persists?

Anyone else getting these blocking ads?

Angry Getting these popping up also

Here is a collection of screen grabs from my phone. Took only a few min to get these issues . I was able to reproduce it several times. Not an issue with desktop. The middle picture is history -> you can see, its impossible to return to MR2OC.com from the ad in some cases.

I don't see any ads like that. I'd look at any apps you may have installed recently, possibly you've got one that's serving these ads.

Those adds don't appear for me either, on mobile or PC.

Members have not been lost...they can choose to post or not. I lost my original user name in the password dump debacle whatever it was.

Meh, who cares, its just a forum....the main reason forums have slowed is the fact that times change, people move on and its harder than ever to keep these cars going.

Not to mention that every question ever asked has been asked a million times and answered...in the same.

The diehards are still here, simple google search Q&A are mostly ignored, but specific query's are still fielded.

This forum is better than its ever been, moderators leaving technical discussions to run there course, those with real world experience not being outed because some butthurt goon cries to a moderator..

Bottom line is, if you have to ask how to build something on a forum, your prolly never gonna build anything and you can't educate ignorance.

remember, this is all free...its a community service...not like MR2.com that took money from members...data mined and still disappeared.

Most of the die hards left when Bill sold out (Bill did what he felt was best). The rest went to Facebook. I still log in from time to time to research and occasionally get a PM. Nothing wrong with MR2.com as that is also a valuable resource of information and is actually a bit more active than this forum is.

I find it comical that you say it's better than it's ever been. I guess if you want to look at it from strickly a library of information without any new information to clog up the old information than you are correct. But is like 5 new topics per month here.

These stupid things are seasonal and happen across the internet not just here. They are a result of one of our ad partners letting these through when they are not supposed to. We report them to our ad traffic team. Can you tell me what browser you are using and if you are on android or apple?

I miss the old days on here. Like 10 years ago. Lots of new posts and many active members. Sad its gotten to this point.

But I dont have any ad issues on my laptop. I also run adblocker so that might be why lol.

the old Photobook fiasco didn't help either. lots of sticked threads were destroyed or pointless without the pictures. Some can be saved if users downloaded the photobucket fix addon for chrome but even still some of them don't work. Lots of people moved on to FaceBook as great of a convenience that is it sucks when trying to find and read through countless posts to get the information needed. I remember another big turning point. I want to say near the end of Bill's era or after he left there was a time where new members couldn't make usernames to even view the site, that to me was really off putting making people go to other forums or social media to get their information. We've been a dying breed for a while without heavy posters on the forums it'll be hard to keep the forum alive.

Hello all,

The next time you encounter the pop-ups, can you provide us with the following info?

- How are you accessing this site? Desktop, Mobile, Enhanced Mobile View or Desktop view?
- What browser/device are you using?
- What operating system and version are you on?
- Full URL of the pop-up
- Screenshots of the pop-up

This will help the techs narrow down the issue.

No ads here. This site and members will be here for a while. Especially if they come out with a new MR2 in the future.

main reasons for lost members is Facebook. The classic car forums had a way better set up, but people are already on Facebook and it's easy to find car groups on there, even though most of them are nowhere near as good as the separate car forums used to be. a jumbled mess of posts and likes, with maybe a few good photos and useful comments hidden in the mess

No ads here. I use Adblock+. As far as activity, remember that every year there are less MR2s around.

Thats exactly how I find it, also allows users to spew their own brand of truth without challenge.

It really is an abomination to binary code.
