How important is an LSD

For rallying a mk1?

Stage or Rallyx? It's important, it helps but at least for rallyx it's not really required you can be competitive without one, can't speak on stage but as far as RallyX goes I have competed for several years and the car has changed a lot and ran in diffrent classes, I have ran a bone stock 86, then a 86 with rally tires, a SC with Rally tires, with and without rear sway. It has always been competitive, I would say the tires help the most, the sway bar helps a lot too, my friend runs his 85 with rally tires and rear sway and has came in #1 in class every race for years and placed better then alot of AWD cars.

I plan on putting a LSD in this winter and adding a TD05 to the mix, figure we are moving into modified to get more compitition, may as well give the car a reason to fit in the class.

For RX the MKI is a nearly dominant car in stock form. I think this year was the first someone wasn't contending at SCCA RX Nats:

Well I was hoping to to stage, but in all reality I can probably only afford rallyx
